Open Question: A few questions about choosing my A-Levels?

25 July 2010, 11:39 am

Hey Guys, Im currently in the process of choosing my A levels for sixth form and I'm a little stuck on what to choose so I was wondering if you could help. Just a little background about my GCSEs. I will give you my grades which I think I will get (touch wood) or what I have already been told I have got. If I say A/B it means I'm confident I either have a A or a B etc. English - A/B Maths - A/B Science - B/C ICT - Distinction (A) BTec in Sport - Distinction (A) Business - B/C History - A/B RE - A/B The problem I have is that people ask me all the time, 'what do you want to be when your older' and I reply the same every time in that I really don't know. I have ideas such as football coaching, journalism and sports science/physiology. I want to pick my subjects in that it could help me achieve and get nearer to those goals and into getting to university to study one of my career ambitions more specifically. The subjects I am choosing from and narrowing down to are: Biology Business Studies English History Leisure Maths Media Critical Thinking (maybe as a 5th option) So what ones of those subjects will help with my suggested career ambitions, for example will History help for any of them? etc. Also, can someone just clairfy to me whether Media Studies is any good to take as a subject. I was told yesterday universities consider it a bit of a Micky Mouse subject and that it doesn't really help with journalism as it is mainly computers and designing things. MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE! Sorry its a bit long winded... Read More »
